I’m going to be away from the computer for a few days, so I thought I would invite all of you to share your favorite quotes about happiness and joy in the comments. I will publish the comments just as soon as I get back on Sunday.
I’ll start with a few of my own favorites.
There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. –Buddha

10 Steps to Finding Your Happy Place (and Staying There) is a program to help us develop habits to grow a joyful spirit. Many of us sabotage our happiness by habits that we might not even be aware of. Identifying and changing these habits can build a reservoir of well-being to enhance our happy times and sustain us during challenging times.
"There is only one person who can make you happy, and that person is you."--?
ReplyDelete"Happiness is like a perfume, you cannot sprinkle on others without sprinkling a few drops on yourself " author unknown.
ReplyDeleteHappiness is not found at the end of the road, but its a part of the journey.
No one can consume happiness without producing it - Helen Keller
Happiness is a choice that you make in life.
Being happy does not mean everything is perfect, it means you have decided to look beyond imperfections. !
G Angela, Thanks for your wonderful additions!
DeleteThe two I like are "You are never completely ready...sometimes it is just your turn" (Ty Murray) and If not now...when?
ReplyDeleteNever really ready--that's a good one.
DeleteFor every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.
ReplyDelete― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Erin, If we really made a cost/benefit analysis about that 60 seconds, we would all probably choose happiness!
DeleteHave a lovely time Galen! Here are some I like:
ReplyDelete“Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.” Mother Theresa
"If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time."- Edith Wharton
Take care
I did have a lovely time at the cabin, thanks. And thanks for adding your quotes.
Delete"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."
ReplyDeleteRalph Waldo Emerson
Kim, I think it's like having your sunglasses on top of your head. Sometimes we forget they're there, but they are there anyway!
DeleteI posted quotes today, too! Father's Day quotes!! I have so many favorites that I made a book of quotes and I'm working on volume 2. My two favorite quotes are:
ReplyDelete"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change ~Wayne Dyer
AND
“Now here is my secret, very simply: you can only see things clearly with your heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Thanks for the reminders!!
Betsy, Wayne Dyer's quote emphasizes our participation in creating what we perceive--so true.
Delete'Believe you can and you're half way there' Teddy Roosevelt
ReplyDeleteJodi, That reminds me of a quote, let's see--something like "Whether you believe you can or you can't, you're right." Thanks for adding to the list.
DeleteIt is your mind that creates this world. Buddha
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite- I believe I responded to you on one of your blog comments:
''We can smile, breathe, walk, and eat our meals in a way that allows us to be
in touch with the abundance of happiness that is available. We are very good
at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years
for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car,
a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive
in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive. Every breath
we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity.
We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment. '' Thich Nhat Hanh
Nancy, So much wisdom in both these quotes. Thanks.
DeleteLove these joyful quotes! I'll have to join you in Psalm 118:24 - one of my favorite lines in scripture.
