Take Your Medicine!

A cheerful heart is good medicine. –Proverbs 17:22

One spring years ago, I was talking to the child psychologist who worked with my autistic son. I was going over several therapeutic program options for the summer. One option I dismissed quickly by saying, “This one would just be fun.” The doctor leaned forward until he was sure I was paying attention and said slowly and deliberately, “Fun...is...good.”

I guess all those years of training paid off for him, because that was one of the smartest things I ever heard.

  12. Ah yes Galen...a cheerful heart is indeed good medicine! It is so important to be able to 'stop and smell the flowers' from time to time. Our world has become far too hurried and we need those moments to recharge...Great post! Loved the mental picture of you and your grandson on the quilt in the grass...simply beautiful! Big hugs to you sweetie...xoxo

  13. I love this one! I will need to send it to my sweet son and daughter in law for our blind granddaughter. She has so much therapy and I think she needs more time for fun. I guess some of the therapy is fun. I liked the thought; fun is good.
